Achievements I started to get involved with fitness, aerobics and weight
lifting in 1980 while still living in Buffalo, New York. After a
move to Florida in 1980, I decided to try my hand at
bodybuilding competition. I entered a show in 1981 in Panama
City, Florida. I do not remember the official title to the show,
but it was related to the ALL SOUTH Championships. There were no
weight divisions, classes or height divisions. All women
competed in one group. This was the AFWBB (American Federation
of Women Bodybuilders). After my first attempt, I placed between
6-10th among the 30 entrants. No placing were given after 5th,
but the top 10 women did get to perform that evening. I decided
to attempt it again in 1981 in Jacksonville, Florida. The
SUNSHINE CLASSIC Championships. Again with no divisions or
categories, I placed 2nd in the group of 21 women. After that I
took some time off from bodybuilding. Although working out and
building a strong body and mind, I didn't enter competition
again until 1988 when the NPC recognized the women and created
women's divisions, categories and standards. The following
listings are shows and placements since 1988.
WPW STRENGTH
EXTRAVAGANZA SHOW
Competing against the world's strongest women in the bodybuilding, powerlifting and fitness world, the Women's Physique World Strength Extravaganza is one of the most powerful shows ever. Squats (twice bodyweight), Benchpress (bodyweight), Curls (60% bodyweight), pull-ups, and dips make up this grueling competition. After each girl is weighed in, the amount she must lift is then calculated for each one, in each category, making it fair to all, no matter what their weight. Here is the listing of how I placed in each show.
